Vision: Can colour contribute to motion?
نویسنده
چکیده
Whether colour patterns that have no luminance variation can evoke the perception of visual motion has long been a controversial issue. Recent studies using new and old techniques have now provided compelling evidence that colour can indeed contribute to motion perception.

Robot Motion Vision Part II: Implementation
The idea of Fixation introduced a direct method for general recovery of shape and motion from images without using either feature correspondence or optical flow [1,2]. There are some parameters which have important effects on the performance of fixation method. However, the theory of fixation does not say anything about the autonomous and correct choice of those parameters. This paper presents ...
متن کاملPerceptual pairing of colour and motion
Observers often pair colours with earlier periods of motion. This observation has prompted the proposal that changes in colour are processed faster and perceived as occurring before physically coincident changes in direction--a brain-time account. Alternatively, it has been proposed that the sudden onset of a surface, or a direction reversal within a persistent surface, can trigger an analysis ...
متن کاملRobot Motion Vision Pait I: Theory
A direct method called fixation is introduced for solving the general motion vision problem, arbitrary motion relative to an arbitrary environment. This method results in a linear constraint equation which explicitly expresses the rotational velocity in terms of the translational velocity. The combination of this constraint equation with the Brightness-Change Constraint Equation solves the gene...
متن کاملVisual half-field development in children: Detection of colour-contrast-defined forms
Recently we have shown that children's ability to perceive motion-defined forms shows an asymmetry in the left and right visual half-fields which disappears in adulthood. The present study is focused on the visual half-field development of colour contrast vision in the same group of subjects. It was found that colour contrast thresholds for the detection of colour-contrast-defined forms decreas...
متن کاملSpatial displacement, but not temporal asynchrony, destroys figural binding
What are the elementary features that the brain uses to bind spatially distinct parts in a visual scene into an unitary percept of an "object"? The Gestalt psychologists emphasized the extent to which motion, colour, luminance or spatial arrangement contribute towards object formation. Little is known about the role of time per se, rather than motion, in constituting an object. In particular, d...
